Radio France International nominated Cheche as the African musical discovery of 2010 for this album, Mogoya. The apprentice of Babani Kone, Cheche came to Studio Mali and asked if we could help her record her new disk (actually cassette tape at the time). Since the album release, she has become one of the hottest female artists in Mali and the uncontested ringtone queen of West Africa. This is classic, broken voiced, smokey throated, Maninka wailing.

Beloved Malian singer, Fatoumata Mourdiah Drame, Che Che Drame, passed away in a car accident in 2010 after headlining a concert, the Nuit du Bazin. She unfortunately did not live to see the completion of the 50th anniversary of Mali's independence from France. She was 26. Chéché Dramé was well known on the Malian music scene since her debut album 'A ye n'demè'. Cheche Drame was highly appreciated by the younger generation in Mali. Her impressive voice and persona endeared her to many hearts. She was an author, composer and performer. The Moorish singer was born to griot parents in Nara in the early 80s. She grew up in a singing environment. Babani Kone Sirani made a significant contribution in her career. She met her through her husband. Babani offered her a place in his band. Cheche was more committed to the fusion of traditional instrumental and vocal techniques with modern instruments.

Cheche Drame was the apprentice of Malian griot star Babani Kone. Mogoya, Cheche's second album, quickly catapulted her to musical stardom in West Africa and the diaspora. Mourouni become the most popular ringtone in all of Mali for 2010 and into 2011.
